Cover Reveal: The Deep End of The Sea by Heather Lyons

Deep End Of The Sea - Front CoverI'm extremely excited to share the cover for  Heather Lyons' THE DEEP END OF THE SEA! I'm so excited about this book, and it's releasing on February 13, 2014!!

About THE DEEP END OF THE SEA:   What if all the legends you’ve learned were wrong? Brutally attacked by one god and unfairly cursed by another she faithfully served, Medusa has spent the last two thousand years living out her punishment on an enchanted isle in the Aegean Sea. A far cry from the monster legends depict, she’s spent her time educating herself, gardening, and desperately trying to frighten away adventure seekers who occasionally end up, much to her dismay, as statues when they manage to catch her off guard. As time marches on without her, Medusa wishes for nothing more than to be given a second chance at a life stolen away at far too young an age. But then comes a day when Hermes, one of the few friends she still has and the only deity she trusts, petitions the rest of the gods and goddesses to reverse the curse. Thus begins a journey toward healing and redemption, of reclaiming a life after tragedy, and of just how powerful friendship and love can be—because sometimes, you have to sink in the deep end of the sea before you can rise back up again.   Deep End of the Sea - Full Cover

The Story Behind Shaken Not Stirred

Mixology was born on a trip to the Outer Banks. It was the off season, a few months before the coastal community came alive for the summer. I was struck by the sense of anticipation and had fun chatting with some of the waitresses, bartenders, and store owners about the quiet season. I couldn't help filling in the details of their stories-- and I just knew I'd have I write a book set against that backdrop.

SNS follows Maddy as she navigates the post college graduation waters when things don't go exactly as planned. This book isn't about a girl making big decisions, it's about one handling the fallout of her her dreams-- or at least the dreams she thought were hers. Along the way she meets Colin, a twenty-something who's not quite as lost but needs to learn about balance, and she finds her place living with two guys-- one her childhood best friend.

SNS has the same romantic yet comedic feel of Hazards, but it focuses on the early twenty-something experience rather than college. I had a ball writing it, and I hope you guys enjoy this trip to the Outer Banks!

Comment below with your email and favorite vacation spot to enter to win a print ARC of Shaken Not Stirred (open internationally). Giveaway ends on Tuesday 12/17 at 10pm eastern time.

Updates

Hey everyone!

I thought it was time to share some release dates and updates with you guys.

Shaken Not Stirred is releasing on January 7th. I'm super excited to release this NA romantic comedy! The Hazards of a One Night Stand is set for a March 2014 release. I'm so excited to share this companion novel to the Hazards of Skinny Dipping!

Search (The Empire Chronicles #2) will be releasing in April 2014! I'm thrilled that so many of you discovered Soar, and I can't wait to bring you the next chapter of the story. Also, there may be a wedding in Search that Crescent fans won't want to miss. :)

And some other news.

I'm shelving Corded for the time being. I've read over the book and I'm just not 100% satisfied with it. I refuse to release a book I'm not completely confident about. I know many of you were excited about this book, but I think waiting to a later date is the best decision at this time.

BUT on a more exciting note, I'm working on a new NA paranormal story I can't wait to share with you guys!

Also, I've started a new monthly paperback giveaway. I'm randomly picking one email from my new release newsletter mailing list and giving them a choice of a print copy of any of my books. You can join the list here: http://eepurl.com/ktlSj

Soar Available Now!

Hey everyone! I'm excited to announce that Soar is now available! I hope you guys enjoy this new chapter in the Pteron story.

In the city that never sleeps the Chronicles continue…

Serving coffee is temporary, just like Casey's year off from school. She’s going to come up with a plan to stay in New York City and go back to college, and that plan does not involve dating a paranormal creature—let alone two.

Running the supernatural society of New York is not as fun as it sounds, especially when you still have to answer to your ex-girlfriend’s fiancé. Toby doesn’t mean to bring Casey into the chaos of his life, but he can't resist the girl who makes him smile when he thought no one else ever could.

Jared's in New York checking out a security risk for his best friend, the king. He plans to return to New Orleans quickly, but not if it means losing his chance with the brunette who pretends she wants nothing to do with him.

In over her head with a bunch of winged creatures who most definitely are not angels, Casey has to figure out who to trust with her life and maybe her heart.

The Boys of November: Cover Spell by T.A. Foster

Hey guys! I am lucky enough to have Evan from Cover Spell by T.A. Foster on the blog today. If you haven't heard about the Ivy Grace series, you should check out book one, Time Spell. It's on sale for just .99 cents.

Hey Evan, thanks for coming!

1. Do you like the limelight, or do you wish you could live a more private life?

Don't get me wrong. I love acting and I love the fans. But, yes it would be nice if I had some more privacy in my life. Maybe I'll enjoy that in my retirement.

2. How would you describe Ivy?
I haven't known Ivy for very long, but I do know this about her. She can dance, she can write the heck out of a screen play, and she makes me laugh like no one I've ever met.

3. What are two things you don't think anyone knows about you?
That's a tough one. I think every reporter out there has interviewed everyone in my life from my high school coaches to my grandmother. I don't think many people know I have a sweet tooth. I'd pass up a steak any day for a candy bar. Oh, and this one might shock some fans. I'm from Texas but I don't have a horse and I don't ride--ever.

Trying her best to mend a broken heart, Ivy Grace travels to hot and sultry New Orleans, the set of her latest novel turned movie. There, she attempts to focus on polishing up the screenplay when the film's lead actress goes missing. Throw in a budding romance with the movie's heartthrob and the reappearance of an old flame, and Ivy's strength, resolve, and heart are put to the test as she works to solve the mysterious kidnapping.

The undercover witch, who craves a regular life, learns she will need more than her Time Spell to fight the evil plaguing New Orleans. New spells, new adventure, and new love take Ivy on a whirlwind journey of magic that unlocks more questions than answers.

Boys of November: Break You by Jennifer Snyder

Hey guys!

There are tons of awesome new releases coming out this month, and I'm going to be spotlighting a few of them by introducing you to some new book boys!

Today I have Jason from Break You by Jennifer Snyder on the blog. Break You is a fantastic New Adult Contemporary Romance that just released today. Jason's definitely a new book boyfriend of mine. ;)

Blaire Hayes enjoys a quiet life, spending her days as a CNA at the local nursing home and nights studying for exams. She prefers things to be as uncomplicated as possible -- but when her friends drag her to a party and she bumps into her high school crush, the path of Blaire’s life veers in an entirely different direction than what she had planned for herself.

Jason Bryant created a nice life away from his hometown, putting distance between himself and the suffocating sadness of his father’s death. But when he finds out his grandfather’s health is deteriorating, he decides he must return home. Partying was not on his agenda while in town, but it’s how he bumps into Blaire Hayes—the girl he’d always thought of in high school as an unobtainable pass.

Together the two learn there are moments in life that hold within them all the power to break you...

Hey, Jason. I just have a few questions for you:

1) What's your ideal date?

Nothing too extravagant. Maybe a dinner at some cool place followed by a round or two of miniature golf?  Or going to an amusement park, that would be pretty decent too.

2) What are 3 things about you that almost no one knows?

I can’t stand green olives. I really don’t mind watching chick-flicks. And I’m addicted to Facebook.

3) Has Blaire changed a lot since High School?

She’s more gorgeous then she was back then, but her personality is still pretty much the same. She’s still very studious and in control all the time. The only thing I can say that I have noticed, is that she seems to have a little more spunk now than she did back then. She was way more shy.

Want a taste of Break You? Check out this excerpt!

The bartender came over with another Long Island for me. Jason handed him a crisp bill from in his wallet. I took a sip and watched as he lifted his ass up and tucked the wallet back into his back pocket.

“Don’t worry about it,” I said, forcing my eyes away from the muscles I could see shifting and flexing in his forearm while he played with the cap from his beer. “I was a little embarrassed, but only because what you said is true. I’m fine now.”

I wanted to smack myself. Why the hell did I just flat-out admit that to him? What I’d said before had been enough; there was no reason for me to add to it. Heat crept along my neck. I’d look like I was having an allergic reaction in a matter of seconds. Great.

“Maybe this will lift your embarrassment some: it’s been a while for me, too,” he said.

This new knowledge he’d openly offered floored me. His eyes locked with mine as he brought his beer to his perfect lips for a swig. I watched as his Adam’s apple bobbed from the action.

“Why?” The question formed in my head, but I had no intentions of actually saying it aloud, and most definitely not in such a dumbfounded tone. Rich laughter rumbled through his chest and his head tipped back in the process. A grin twisted at my lips, one I couldn’t suppress no matter how hard I tried. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked. It’s not my place.” I forced my eyes to look anywhere except at him as I shook my head.

“No, it’s okay,” he said, containing himself. “I just can’t get over how shocked you seem by my confession.”

I took a sip of my drink. “You just don’t seem like the type to have any dry spells. If I remember correctly, you didn’t have that problem in high school either, and I can’t imagine it forming in college of all places.”

Hadn’t meant to say that one aloud either. What the hell was in this drink, a loose lips amplifier?

“People change,” he said. “You did.”

“How so?”

“You’ve gotten more beautiful, for starters.”

His words made my stomach flutter and my heart pound. That was most definitely a line…but I liked it. Jason straightened his back and downed the rest of his beer. Banging the empty bottle against the bar as he set it back down, he stood and held out a hand to me.

Shaken Not Stirred Cover Reveal!

Hey everyone!

Today I'm excited to reveal the cover and description of Shaken Not Stirred. I can't wait to share this New Adult Romantic Comedy with you guys in January! Also, be sure to enter the giveaway below for a chance to win a print ARC of Shaken Not Stirred and a Mixology gift basket.

Finding the perfect guy is like mixing the perfect drink. It's all about the taste and presentation.

Maddy's gone off the deep end, at least that's what her family thinks when she handles her med school rejections by moving to the Outer Banks. It doesn't help that she's paying her bills by bartending and is sharing walls with two guys, even if one of them is her childhood best friend.

Her choice of men seems more balanced on the surface—Colin is driven, sexy, and gainfully employed, but she can't help spending her Thursday nights searching for the perfect drink for Lyle, whose music captivates her with its haunting lyrics. Maddy believes everyone has a perfect drink—and finding Lyle's isn't a challenge she's willing to lose.

Soar Teaser #3 and a giveaway!

I thought you guys might want to visit with some other familiar Crescent characters. ;) Also, enter below with your email  for a chance to win a Soar e-ARC.  I'll pick two random winners. Giveaway open until Tuesday at 11:30 p.m. est.

“So, Casey, did you get a chance to see any of the city last night?” My eyes zeroed in on her face, she’d have to look up at me eventually.
“No. We came right here from the airport and it was already late.” She looked up, and for a split second, our eyes met.
“That’s too bad. I’ll have to remedy that tonight. Let’s plan on dinner at eight and go from there.”
“We’ll be back by then?” Nice, she hadn’t completely shot me down.
“We’ll be back tonight.” Toby put his arm around her waist. “Where did you want to do dinner?”
“You weren’t invited.”
“I wasn’t?” His smile said it all. He wasn’t going to play dead and roll over. That just made it better.
“No. Casey’s never been here. I’m giving her the special treatment.”
“I heard your dad owns this place, Allie. It’s gorgeous.” Casey glanced around the lobby. Her eyes stopped on the chandelier with dangling crystals.
“I think so too. It’s got a lot of character.”
I couldn’t resist that opening. “I’ll show you lots of places with character…”
“You are a character, Jared.” Allie nudged my shoulder.
I ignored Allie and focused all my attention on Casey. “I promise, Casey. It’ll be a good time.
She bit her lip, and I knew I was in.
“Eight sound good?”

The Tuesday Tease

Hey everyone!

Here's a short tease from Shaken Not Stirred. I'm so excited to reveal the cover and description next Wednesday! Also, stop by on Thursday for a Soar teaser!

“Oh, if I’m good?” he teased. Teasing fit him in a weird way. He seemed so serious, but I knew there was more underneath.
I could play along with the teasing. “Good? Were you planning to be bad?”
He laughed. “This is starting to sound a lot dirtier than it actually is.”
“As long as you don’t start asking if I’m a good girl, I think we’re okay.”

The Tuesday Tease

Hey everyone! Soar releases in just four weeks!

Here's a short teaser:

I wondered what his chest would feel like under my hand, what his lips would feel like on mine. I always pictured he’d be the gentle kind of guy, but the hint of his personality I’d gotten the night before made me wonder if there was something much more primal underneath.

Soar Teaser #2!

Hey everyone! Soar releases in just five weeks. I cannot wait to share this new Pteron story with you, but for now, here's another teaser.

I took the outstretched cup from her. I sipped the coffee, and she was right. “Very good.”
“I wonder why they call it a storm?”
“I don’t know, but I doubt they’ll tell us. They’re pretty secretive about recipes here.”
“Oh.” Some disappointment crossed her face, and I knew I’d get the recipe sooner or later. “Well then we might have to come back.” She accepted the cup from me and took another sip. After she gave off another of those small moans, I got a little suspicious.
“Would you excuse me for a minute?”
She nodded, going in for yet another sip.
I found the witch that owned the place, the same one who’d seated us. “What did you put in our coffee?”
She smiled. “You shouldn’t have tasted anything different, sir.”
“But she’s tasting something different, isn’t she?” I nodded over my shoulder.
“I thought I’d help you out a little. Push things in the right direction.” She rolled her tongue over her teeth.
“It’s an aphrodisiac spell?”
“The spell only affects women. I know the Society rules about using magic on Pterons.”
“Now what do I do? I can’t take it away from her, but I can’t let her drink it.”
“Why not? You can take her home after this.”
I shook my head. “This better not happen again or I’ll close this place down.”
“You could thank me.” She wore a playful look, and I was certain this wasn’t the first time she’d used the spell on a customer.
“Thank you?” Witches were usually okay, but this one was earning a spot on my bad side.
“For helping out. It’s been too long. Allie’s gone, it’s time to find someone new.” She spoke as though we were close friends and she knew exactly what I was going through. The truth was we’d only met a handful of times.
I knew the action was done with the right intentions, but it really put me in a bad place. Now even if the opportunity arose I couldn’t ask Casey back home.  I sure as hell wasn’t going to take advantage of her that way.
“Relax, Toby. It only works if the girl’s into you already. If she isn’t, it will be useless. If it works well you know you’ve got her attention even without the spell.”
“I could kill you for this,” I muttered before returning to the table to find Casey with a nearly empty cup and half the pot of crème brulee.
“Sorry I started on this without you.” She pushed the dish toward me.
“It’s okay.” I put an arm behind her and she happily snuggled into my side. I figured letting her get close wasn’t taking advantage of her.
“I’m glad you asked me out.” She ran a finger down my chest, and even through the cotton of my shirt it made me shiver with a mix of anticipation and need. “I’ve wanted this a long time.”
“Me too, but it’s getting late.”
“Are you ready to go home?” Her words were innocent enough, but her eyes weren’t. She wasn’t planning on spending the night in her own bed, which made it that much more important that she did.
“Unfortunately I have to run into work. I’ll make sure you get home safe first though.”
“Really? That’s not fun.” She pouted. Then she looped one leg over my lap and straddled me. Her fingers moved to my shirt again, but this time they didn’t stop at my chest. I stilled her hand before she could start playing with my belt buckle.
“How about we go out another night? Maybe next week?” I wasn’t against using her state to my advantage by lining up a future date. Hopefully she’d remember we made one.
“I’d love to, but do we have to wait that long?” Her teeth nipped my ear. “Can’t you just put off work a little bit longer?”
“It’s going to be a busy week for me.” And a painful night. I’d never hated my jeans more.  “But I’ll see you at work.”
“At work?” she purred into my ear. “Can’t it be at play?”
What kind of spell had they used? Casey was ready to go right there at the café. I had to cool things down and fast.
“Not yet.” I carefully moved her off my lap and stood up.
The physical separation seemed to help a little. Her face relaxed, and she rested her hands at her sides. “Okay, hopefully the week will go fast.”
“You and me both.” I wasn’t sure how long the spell would last, but hopefully a week would give it enough time to leave her system.
I sat on the opposite side of the cab and gently pushed her back over to her side every time she got too close. The look the cab driver was giving me in the rear view mirror was priceless. He’d thought I’d lost my mind. I’m sure it looked that way. Generally it wasn’t my practice to push away a sexy girl who was trying to get into my pants. Knowing her desire was accentuated by magic didn’t make it easier.

Here's the tease:
I leaned on my elbows in front of Macon. “Was that really necessary?”
“What? I was just telling him the truth.”
“The truth? We’re roommates, Macon, not some live-in threesome.”
He laughed so hard he coughed on his drink. “Live-in threesome? Yeah, if you want that, we’re switching Brody for a girl.”

And yes, it is that Brody from Veer. :)

The Tuesday Tease

Hey everyone!

I'm going to be trying something new on the blog. I love sharing teasers and excerpts, but sometimes it's fun to share something even smaller, what I call a tease. I already share these little tastes with friends sometimes, so I thought it would be fun to start posting them. It's amazing how a few lines can give you a feel for a book.

Soar releases in just six weeks so that's where my first tease is from. I'll be posting longer excerpts over the next few weeks. In case you missed the last one, you can find it here.

Here's the tease:

I shook myself. I was not allowed to fantasize about sleeping with a guy just to enjoy nice sheets.

These lines give you a little taste of Casey and her sense of humor. I've had so much fun writing her, and I hope you guys enjoy reading her story when Soar releases on November 19!

Want another tease? Head over to Jennifer Snyder's blog to check out a tease from her soon to released NA contemporary Break You!

Sometimes who we really are lies buried just beneath the surface…
After learning she’s inherited a house in the beachside town of Soul Harbor, Georgia, Addison Harmon and her best friend decided to take a much needed vacation before the pressures of life after high school suffocate them too heavily.
But what Addison finds isn’t a chance to recoup from a bad break up and hang out with her best friend while she decides what she wants to do with her future. What she finds is Kace Sullivan—a sexy guy she can’t seem to get enough of—someone who with one touch reveals a seductive world full of magick and secrets Addison isn’t sure she’s ready to be a part of.
(New Adult/Mature Young Adult: Contains sexual situations, mild language, and underage drinking.)

Sometimes to understand the present you have to conjure up the past...

The last thing Addison Harmon needed was to become tethered to the broody, often seemingly cold, Theo Van Rooyen, but that's exactly what happened.

Forced to partner up with Theo to figure out a way to break the tether, Addison soon realizes she may have bitten off more than she can chew.

(New Adult/Mature Young Adult: Contains sexual situations, language, underage drinking, and drug usage.)
