Cover Reveal: Hereafter by Jennifer Snyder

Today I'm excited to be part of the cover reveal for Hereafter by Jennifer Snyder!
In Death I could finally see the importance of Life…

After being forced to become a Reaper Council member and being torn away from the one she loves, Rowan Harper must learn to accept her altered Fate as well as her death and move on. A task easier said than done, especially when witnessing those you love suffer in the wake of your death.

When an unlikely alli provides information that could change everything, Rowan sets out on a journey through Purgatory with her beloved by her side and a nonchalant Tracker to learn the true meaning of the word sacrifice. Another task which seems easier said than done, especially with the threat of Purgatory’s ability to corrupt your soul the longer you’re in its grip looming above their heads.

This gorgeous cover was designed by Once Upon a Time Covers!

Look for Hereafter (a Reaper Novella) on Feb.18th. Be sure to read the first novella in the series, TOUCH, which is only .99 on both KINDLE and NOOK!

Focus Teaser # 3

Michelle moved her arms and stood up straighter. “Yes, and I definitely get why you chose her. She’s amazing.” She gave me the biggest, fakest smile.
The forced nature of it didn’t go unnoticed by Levi. “Good. As nice as it is to see you, I’m going to be taking Allie now. We’ve got some plans of our own.”
I groaned internally. I tried to help and, of course, he had to take advantage of it. “Before we go, let me make sure my friends don’t mind.”
“We don’t mind at all,” Anne said immediately. “Go have fun.” She winked at me.
“If you want to go, we understand.” Tiffany was trying to figure out what I wanted her to say.
“Yeah, go ahead.” Hailey grinned. She was in so much trouble.
“Bye, Michelle. Great meeting you.” I let Levi lead me to the front door.
“You guys staying?” Levi asked his friends.
“Yeah.” Jared was eyeing Tiffany.
“Okay, but remember the rules,” I warned him. Tiffany was too sweet of a girl to have to deal with Jared.
He glared at me. “Yes, how could I forget?”
Levi led us off the porch and away from the house.
“Nice kiss.”
“You know why I did it.” I looked up at the perfectly crescent moon.
“Do I?”
He traced a line down my arm.
“Of course. Michelle would have told your dad if she thought something was up. Why would it mean anything else?”
“A chaste kiss could have accomplished the same thing. That wasn’t chaste—your tongue was in my mouth, Al.”
“Are you complaining?”
“Hell no. I happen to like your tongue… and the rest of you.” His eyes let me know exactly what he was implying.

Behind the Gate Interview and Author Spotlight: Rebecca Rynecki

Today I have the pleasure of welcoming Rebecca Rynecki to the blog! Rebecca is the author of The Secret World of Alaina Downs Trilogy. I'm reading the first book right now, The Secret World of Alaina Downs and loving it. Book two, The Knight's Ill-Thought Bargain, will be released in February.

Here's a little bit about this New Adult Fantasy Romance series:

When 22 year old Alaina stumbles into a world that she thought only existed in her mind, she is understandably a little bit freaked out. Who wouldn't be? Characters that she had written down years ago are walking, and talking, and telling her that she is the only one who can save the princess and the kingdom of Isleen. Um...okay. As she travels down to the southern kingdom with Sir Gabriel, a really hot knight, she falls off horses, has an interaction with an evil witch, gets attacked by a sea creature, and even falls from lust into love.

Excerpt:
Gabriel glanced at her. She was lying on her side, facing him. "I think if I ever got a chance to tell you more of my stories, you would realize that it is one of the few tame ones."
Alaina smiled. "I guess I've been warned then. Are you cold?"
    "Why?"
"You look cold. Get closer, maybe I'm the one who has the secret heat creating powers." Gabriel silently moved closer to her. "Now, then," she said, adjusting the blanket over the two of them, "go on, tell me."
Gabriel adjusted himself so he was lying on his right side. "Well, I have to tell you that this tale has wonder in it."
"Ah...wonder." Alaina nodded seriously. "Always a good way to start."
"Exactly. And fear." He chuckled. "I thought I was either going to vomit or shit my trousers."
"I hope neither happened!" Alaina laughed softly.
"Well..." Gabriel raised his eyebrows before he shook his head. "No. None of that happened."
    "So, what did?"
"I climbed on, and my knuckles were so white from shaking so much. I held onto that dragon's hairs like..." He fisted his hands to show her.
    Alaina smiled. "Yeah."
He stared into her eyes, his heartbeat quickening. "And my stomach dropped, and I was flying...and falling, and...it was maddening."
"And you did it again and again."
Gabriel nodded slowly. "Every time I go up, it's different."
    "Better or worse?" she whispered.
    "Better."

And Now for the interview:

1) What is your favorite part of being an author?

I love interacting with the readers, even over things that have nothing to do with the book. I like that the majority of readers who've reached out to me have turned out to be Hunger Games fans, love British television and just have embraced the weird and silly things that make us happy.

2) If you found a hidden gate in your backyard where would it lead to?

Wow. This is something that I've often wished for in my life. It would be awesome and maybe a bit scary to actually find a gate that led to a different world, but I would love to find a hilly, green meadow. Nothing around but trees, the sky, and an old crumbling castle.

3) Could you tell us four random things about yourself?

1. I bake.
2. I secretly, well maybe not so secretly anymore, read Hunger Games fanfiction late at night.
3. A rabbit came to me when I was 8-9 years old as I sat outside reading a book. Sadly he didn't lead me anywhere interesting.
4. One of my dogs is named Westley after, well, Westley in The Princess Bride. We were thinking of naming him Anakin but my mom thought that might turn him evil so...

Focus Teaser #2

Three more weeks :)
I closed my eyes, trying to ignore the dull ache inside that made me want to reach out and touch him. He took advantage, but really I left myself open.
His lips met mine as his arm wrapped around my shoulder, turning me toward him. A voice in my head told me to cut him off, but I ignored it. He pushed to deepen the kiss, and I let my resistance fall away. He leaned into me, moving me so I was lying down. I felt his weight shift on top of me, his lips moving to my neck and trailing downward. I snapped myself out of it. Kissing Levi was a really bad idea.
“Stop!” I pushed against his chest. He didn’t respond at first, but he reluctantly moved to let me sit up. “What the hell was that?”
He grinned. “Don’t say you didn’t want that.”
“Don’t look so proud of yourself. It’s never happening again.” I straightened my hair out with my fingers, trying to get rid of the evidence.
“So about tonight?”
“What about it?” I snapped.
“What do you want to do?” He sat up, still looking way too proud of himself.
“I’m going to a party with Hailey. She says all the freshman will be there.”
“Please tell me you aren’t talking about Disorientation, are you?”
“Yeah, I think that’s what it’s called.”
He shook his head. “No way. You’re not going!”
As if on cue, the door started to open. “Are you two decent in there?” Jared yelled obnoxiously.
I groaned “Of course, we are.”
Hailey and the boys pushed into the room.
“Are you sure about that?” Owen asked.
I probably blushed wondering what evidence still existed. I followed his gaze and realized my tank top was pulled up on one side. Levi pulled it down before I could, letting his hand graze my skin in the process. The goose bumps that formed were completely coincidental—or so I told myself.

Focus Teaser # 1

Hey everyone, here's the first Focus Teaser!

Class went by in a blur, and I walked out with Jared just like after our first class.
“Levi never came home last night. Do you know anything about that?”
I figured he’d find out anyway. “He may or may not have spent the night on the couch.”
     “And where did you sleep?”
     “On the couch,” I mumbled.
“You two sure like the couch. Is he going to be in a good mood when I see him?”  Jared nudged me as we walked.
I moved closer to Jared when a kid on a bicycle nearly ran me over. “It depends on how happy cuddling makes him.”
Jared arched a brow. “Cuddling. Is that what you kids are calling it these days?”
“You got me. We had hot sex. I wanted Hailey to join in, but Levi wasn’t up for it.”
Jared cracked up. “You’re okay, Allie.”
     “I’m glad you approve.”
“But seriously.” He glanced behind us before continuing. “I’m glad you guys are working things out.”
     “I don’t know if I’d say that…”
“You spent the night together. I don’t care if all you did was sleep. It still means something. You don’t do that with someone you don’t want to be with.”
I adjusted the straps of my tote bag so they didn’t dig into the bare skin of my shoulder that my tank top left exposed. “I didn’t want to be with him the last time we slept on the couch.”
     “Yes you did.”
We reached my next class, and I saw Owen waiting in the same spot as last time.
Jared nodded. “See you around, Princess.”
“Do you really have to do that?”
     “What? It’s your title.”
I shook my head. Jared waved to Owen, and walked away.
